Kenneth R. “Ken” Simmons, age 95 of Monroe, passed away Sunday, August 28, 2022 in his home. Born July 13, 1927 in Monroe, Ken was the son of Horace and Fern (Struble) Simmons. A 1945 graduate of Monroe High School, he faithfully served our country in the United States Army Air Corps. Ken earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Toledo and later his Masters Degree in 1965. He married Dorothy Brancheau March 3, 1948. Sadly she preceded him in death June 9, 1985. He then married Patricia Young June 25, 2005. Ken worked as a Manager in the Marketing Department for General Motors in the Central Office in Detroit until his retirement. He was very proud of his accomplishments with the Chevrolet Division with General Motors. Ken was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church since 1949 and an associate member of Emanuel United Methodist Church in Bradenton, Florida. He was a life member and past chapter commander of the Disabled American Veterans-Chapter 79; and a life member of the Free and Accepted Mason Lodge 27 Monroe. Ken enjoyed wintering at his condo in Longboat Key, Florida. Ken leaves to cherish his memory, Patricia, his wife of the past 17 years; his children: Bruce Simmons, Linda Scott, Matthew (Christine) Simmons and Lisa Simmons 16 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 3 step children: Joseph (Michele) Travis, Kevin (Barbara) Travis and Laurie (Jeff) Harris. In addition to his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by 4 children: Danny Simmons, Laura Simmons, John Simmons and Mark Simmons; and a sister Jeanette Aichler. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in honor of Ken may be made to the Mark E. Simmons and Dorothy A. Simmons Memorial Scholarship Fund at St. Mary Catholic High School.
