Kenneth L. Giles

Kenneth L. Giles, of Trenton, formerly of Monroe, passed away May 14, 2023.

As a child Kenneth would go hunting with friends and loved being outdoors. In 1991 Kenneth was working at Jefferson Schools, where he met and fell in love with Carlotta Salemi. They eventually moved in together, and Kenneth brought along his beloved dog named Bugaroo. After Bugaroo passed, they agreed no more dogs, then along came Buckwheat, Toodle and now the wild child, Ebony.

As an animal lover, he would take the dogs along everywhere, including the motor home trips to many different states.

In 2000 Carlotta and Kenneth bought a cottage up north and would travel up north frequently until they sold it in 2016. This is where he was able to ride his tractor and spend hours cutting the grass.

His morning routine would consist of buying a cappuccino and driving through Elizabeth Park, while listening to Bob and Tom Radio Show. More recently he would pack peanuts to take with him to feed the squirrels.

Kenneth enjoyed cooking for everyone, and often made way too much, so they would make to-go plates or invite others over for dinner. Without Kenneth, many people will miss his wonderful cooking.

A man of many talents, he was a talented woodworker, and was able to draw incredible caricatures.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, life partner of Carlotta Salemi. Father of Shelly (Vern) Denault and Cheryll (Kurt) Johnson). Grandfather of Neil, Harrison, Kristen, Steven and Brianne. Great Grandpa of Gavin. Brother of Nancy Giles-Allen, the late Barbara Allen and the late Ruth Flint.

A memorial gathering will be held at The Martenson Family of Funeral Homes – Trenton Chapel on Tuesday May 23, 2023 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm. A memorial service will begin at 6:30 pm.

Memorial contributions can be made in memory of Kenneth to the American Cancer Society.
