It is with great sadness that the family of Earlena Kay Woodbury, age 78 of Monroe, announce the passing of their loving mother and Nana, on Sunday, August 27, 2023.
Born October 26, 1944 in Toledo, Kay was the daughter of Earl and Amelia (Dazey) VanNorman. A 1962 graduate of Monroe High School, she married the love of her life, Daniel Woodbury, on December 15, 1962. Sadly, he preceded her in death in July of 2018. Kay worked as a Cosmetologist at Irene’s House of Beauty and then as a Cashier at Meijer.
Kay had been a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church where she was also a Sunday School Teacher. She was also a member of Monroe Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 884, past President of the Elks Lodge Women’s Auxiliary and had been a Campfire Leader. Kay enjoyed playing the piano, gardening, cooking, dancing and feeding the squirrels and birds in her yard, but her most treasured times were those spent with her family.
Kay leaves to cherish her memory her children: Debra (Robert) Samu, Christine (Michael) Neal and Melissa (Joseph) Townsend; as well as five grandchildren: Amanda, Cameron, Christian, Caleb and Ashley. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, brothers and sisters.
Memorial contributions in honor of Kay may be made to the Humane Society of Monroe County.
