Gallagher, Kay of Grosse Ile, MI was born on July 12, 1930 to John and Margaret Fahey who were Irish immigrants; she passed away on May 10, 2024 at the age of 93. Kay was well known for her gift of gab, love of lady’s bridge and bingo, walks around the neighborhood and legendary Christmas cookie baking sprees. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to all who knew her. Kay retired from the Grosse Ile School System where she served for 20 years as a Paraprofessional, and volunteered at Manna Meals soup kitchen. Beloved wife of 51 years of the late James A. Loving mother of Tom (Donna), Bob, Nancy (John) Reider and Karen McGrover. Devoted grandmother of Linda (Mike) Collins; Melissa, Amy, and Daniel (Grace) Gallagher; Katie and Johnny Reider; Emily and Allison McGrover. Great grandmother of Logan and Cameron Collins. Dearest sister of John (Pat) Fahey, Chris (Kathy) Fahey and the late Margaret Costello. Also survived by her many nieces, nephews, and friends. She will lie in state on Thursday, May 16, 2024 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Grosse Ile from 11:30 am until the time of the Funeral Liturgy at 12 noon. Interment Sacred Heart Cemetery. Memorial contributions to honor Kay’s life may be made to Capuchin Soup Kitchen.
