Karen S. Heavrin

Karen Sue Heavrin, age 79 of Trenton, was born on December 6, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois and died on January 25, 2022. Beloved wife of 55 years to Stephen. Cherished mother of Dean (Karie) Heavrin and Kristi Pawlak. Proud grandma of Kennedy, Alex, and Morgan. Dearest sister of Ann (Bob) Hallse. Also survived by many other loving family and friends. Preceded in death by her parents, Lucius and Thelma (nee: Christensen) Weston. Karen attended South Shore High School in Chicago, Illinois and received a BA in English from Purdue University in 1964. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, Mahjong, and trivia. She loved animals, courtroom reality TV shows, key lime pie, and crazy hats. She was zany, artsy, feisty, and a straight shooter. She preferred bare feet to shoes and sand to snow. She resisted technology and insisted on handwritten cards and letters. She was a collector of many things and had a passion for reading. Her "happy place" was their summer cottage at Palisades Park where she relished the many beautiful sunsets, the "Wednesday Night" dinner gatherings, Book Club, and just being with her many friends. She had a fantastic sense of humor and loved to laugh until it hurt. Above all else, she cherished her grandchildren. A memorial gathering will take place on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at The Trenton Chapel of The Martenson Family of Funeral Homes located at 3200 West Road, Trenton. The memorial service will be held that same evening at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions to honor Karen's life may be made to the (ASPCA) American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals or to the animal rescue or shelter of choice.
