Julie Lee Bergeron

It is with great sadness that the family of Julie Lee Bergeron of Southgate, MI, announce her passing on February 16th, 2025, after a courageous fight against cancer. Julie was born on February 6th, 1962 at Riverside Hospital in Trenton, Michigan, the second child of Ronald and Anna Bergeron. As a child, Julie was quick to show her precocious spirit and personality. Julie worked hard to earn the title of top rebel amongst the Bergeron siblings. Julie never thought twice about shopping her sister Joyce’s closet for clothes, her vanity for makeup, or her drawer for whatever accessories her borrowed outfit called for. When not raiding the closet, she turned her attention to Joyce’s collection of Barbie dolls, eager to provide new Julie approved permanent modifications to their wardrobe and hairstyles.

Her free spirit continued into high school where she quickly formed a tight knit group of friends that she would have for the rest of her life including best friends Debbie Williams and Pamela Bowman (Karavite). This gang would go on to share numerous adventures together including racing Bob Probert down Dix-Toledo road and spending a year in California where she dated a bounty hunter. Like many in the 80’s, Julie’s adventures took her to numerous local concerts. Julie loved Rock-n-Roll with a passion. Her love for music began at an early age as she joined her sister Joyce listening to various 45’s in their shared bedroom long into the night. As Julie grew, her love for music grew with her as did her taste. As a graduate of Southgate High School, Julie was a proud saber. During her time in high school, she joined the choir not only at school but also at St. Pius where she shared her vocal talents with the community. Perhaps her biggest adventure was the discovery of the local rock band “The Almighty Strut”. What followed was years worthy of memories, and countless bottles of Aqua-Net, while Julie and Debbie followed the band around the early 80’s Detroit rock scene.

Julie took great pride in her work as a caregiver assisting many disabled adults both with daily life and in procuring meaningful employment opportunities. Caring for others became Julie’s mission whether through Goodwill or on the homefront. Julie had a heart of gold and would help anyone at a moment’s notice to the best of her abilities. Throughout her life, Julie never lost touch with the inner child that went on all these adventures. She had a special way of connecting with the family, in particular the young ones. She always loved having the babies of the family around taking them for drives, to the movies, or simply babysitting any time she had the chance. Julie always had a way of making every person in her life feel special and the center of the universe.

It was while living at Concord when Julie would embark on her most meaningful and greatest adventure. Julie’s ability to love others was finally rewarded when God blessed her with a son, Kyle. From the moment he arrived, Kyle became the focus of her love and compassion. Wanting the best for him, Julie enrolled him in her elementary school and strapped on a pair of ice skates in order to introduce him to the world of hockey. For the next 17 years the two would spend countless hours at rinks, on the road to away games, and countless practices and scrimmages. Julie’s love for everyone was authentic and genuine. She was always there to celebrate other’s achievements and provide a shoulder to cry on if needed. She spent countless nights helping others through challenges and difficulties. Julie was always up for anything from simple lunches at the local coney island to Sci-fi conventions halfway across the country. These qualities along with Julie’s level of compassion and unrivaled faith in God that made her unique, special and simply irreplaceable.

She is survived by her son Kyle, her mother Anna, her siblings; James (Tonya), John (Andrea), and Joel Bergeron. Nieces and Nephews; Jennifer, Joshua, Alexander, Jordyn, Jade, Ty, Zak, Nikita and great nephews; Kenny, Turner, and Johnny. Her loving aunts and uncle, Katie Pippin, Barbara Bennett, Donna Vasher and James Vaught, numerous cousins and her faithful dog Chewie. Julie is preceded in death by her treasured father Ronald, her doting sister Joyce, loving grandparents Hiney (Red) and Mattie Vaught, Stanley and Eleanor Bergeron, aunts Allene, Marlene, Shirley, Eleanor, and Margaret. Uncles Paul, Larry, Jay, Rod, Edward, Howard and Dennis, nephew Scott Mann and dearest friend Debbie Williams.
