Joyce F. Cox

Cox, Joyce F. of Dearborn Heights, Michigan passed away on Saturday, July 2, 2022 at the age of 94. Beloved wife of the late Clayton Cox. Loving mother of Kathleen Cox and David (Mary Ann) Cox. Cherished grandmother of Brandon (Alissa Weatherton) Bell, Jessica (Dominick) Pulis, Derek (Jessica Tong) Bell, Erin (Matthew) Sternberg, Nate (Stephanie) Cox, and Samantha Cox. Sweet great-grandmother of Emma, Hannah, Evan, Charli, Josephine, Khloe, Samuel, Clayden, Miles, Sofia, Cyrus, and Rooney. Dear sister of Helen, Glen, Terry, Connie, and Flo. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents Dan and Maude Miller, her sister Jerry and brothers Danny, Paul, Joe, and Bill. She will be deeply missed by many loving family and friends. Joyce was born in Balkan, Kentucky. She was the second born of 13. She graduated from Bell County High School. She met Clayton, who moved away to Michigan to find a job in automotive. She followed shortly behind and married him on August 26, 1950. They lived in Detroit and had two children, Kathy and Dave. They moved to Dearborn Heights in 1958. Joyce was a full-time autoworker at GM Fisher Body where she was a car interior seamstress. The skills she learned on the job turned into a hobby she was very talented at. In 1985, she sadly became a widow when Clayton passed away. She retired in 1986. Joyce was a devoted Christian that read the Bible daily. She loved to take long morning walks around her neighborhood. She loved to garden and had a beautiful garden that included tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, raspberries, to name a few. Oh and don’t forget the green beans! She would pick the halfrunners and would have family over and they would sit around the kitchen table and clean the beans so she could can them. She loved to quilt, sew and crochet. She taught her grandchildren to crochet. Speaking of her family, she loved them dearly. She called her family every single day. She never missed giving a birthday card, even after her back surgery, she made sure someone picked up Dave’s birthday card for her. Joyce loved to watch University of Kentucky basketball and Detroit Tigers baseball. Joyce lived a long fulfilling life filled with love and will be dearly missed by many. The family is fortunate to have so many years to enjoy her presence and know that Joyce is looking down on them from heaven.
