Josephine "Josie" Gillespie

Josephine "Josie" Gillespie of Southgate, born in Windsor, Ontario Canada, grew up in Ecorse, Michigan, passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2024 at the tender age of 94. Beloved mother of James (Lynn) Gillespie, Janis (Tim) Whalen, and Jay Timmee (Carla) Gillespie. Loving sister of Frances (Jack) Laub, sister-in-law of Delores Modic and Marilyn Modic. Cherished grandmother of Jay (Jess), Adam, Zac and Troy. Josephine was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Katarina Modic and her brothers Frank and Victor Modic.

Before permanently retiring, Josie enjoyed working as a lunch-aide at Wyandotte Roosevelt High School until the age of 93. She loved gardening, Slovenian and big band music as well as ballroom dancing. Fortunately, Josie found love again late in life with Bill Kubic at the tender age of 91. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her strong will, commitment to health, as well as caring for her family and others who impacted her life.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Allen Park Chapel of the Martenson Family of Funeral Homes located at 10915 Allen Road, Allen Park 48101. A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a future date.
