Doherty, Joseph J., Sr. Age 80 was born on September 5, 1936 in Wyandotte, MI and died on January 22, 2017 at Beaumont Hospital Trenton; he was of Trenton. Beloved husband of the late Marcella. Loving father of Deborah (Raymond) Switala, Tina (Bryan) Sullivan, Joseph, Jr. (Libby) and Stacy (Chad) Severyn. Dearest grandfather of Nicole, Christopher, Ashley, Ian (Alyssa), Marcella, Katie, Logan, Trevor and Abigail. Great grandfather of Luke and Sydney. Also survived by his sister Carole (the late Troy) Coffman. Preceded in death by his parents James and Christine (nee: Venier). He will be missed by many including his cat Baby. Joseph graduated in 1954 from Trenton High School and retired as a Lieutenant from the City of Trenton police department; he cherished his time with his family and was an avid sports fan who loved to go bowling and play golf. Joseph proudly served his country in the United States Army. Visitation is Wednesday 3 – 9 pm at The Trenton Chapel of The Martenson Family of Funeral Homes, 3200 West Rd., Trenton. Funeral service Thursday 11 am at the funeral home. Interment Michigan Memorial Park Cemetery.
