Ruetz (Allen Park, MI) passed away after courageously battling stage four, bone cancer on November 8th, 2020 at the age of 66. John was born in Loraine Ohio on March 4th, 1954 to Carl Richard Ruetz Sr. and Dolores Ann Ruetz (Hink). He had five siblings, three brothers and two sisters. He attended Allen Park High School and graduated in 1973. Following high school, John received his mechanical license and began working at his family’s heating and cooling business. He was blessed with his two children by their loving mother Nancy He was preceded in death by: his brother Dennis (Evelyn), his sister Denise Hunt (Brent), and his parents Carl Richard Ruetz and Dolores Ruetz (Hink). He is survived by his son John Ruetz II (Haley) and his daughter Katherine; his grandson John William III; his siblings Carol (Greg) Bollo, Dick (Nancy) Ruetz, Mike (Clare) Ruetz. He is also loved by many nieces, nephews and friends. He will be remembered by many for his devotion to God, his unwavering friendships, and his love for the outdoors. The family will be receiving those wishing to pay respects at a viewing at the Martenson Family Funeral Home in Allen Park Michigan on November 20th at 3 pm, and the funeral will be held at St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church the following morning at 10am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made towards a scholarship fund in John’s name at St. Paul’s Catholic School in St. Petersburg, Florida, where he attended church while spending time in Florida with his family. A cemetery service will take place at Woodlawn Memorial Park in St. Petersburg, FL on November 24th at 10am.
