John Owens

Born in Detroit, John was the son of Henry and Helen (Piper) Owens. John owned and operated Acme Carburetor, first in Detroit and then moving to Dearborn. He was dedicated to his business for over 40 years before retiring in 1987. In addition to his love for his work, he very much enjoyed visiting his cottage, building model airplanes and model boats, but his greatest passion was fishing. Whether it be from shore, in his own boat or even occasionally hitching a ride from a fisherman launching from a local marina with his line "would you like to take a kid fishing." He was well known for his years of experience and expertise and to many it was a honor to be fishing with John as it usually meant a great day fishing. John leaves to cherish his memory his cousin Helen (John) Wludyka as well as many other loving family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in honor of John may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
