To view John's video and service recording please click on the tribute wall above. John Leonard Hainbecher. Age 69 of Lake Michigan. Passed away June 5, 2021. Born February 8, 1952 to Leonard Hainbecher and Lillian (Monroe) Hiller. John graduated from Ecorse High School. He served in the U.S. Army stationed overseas, which he proudly served and was helicopter crew chief for 3 years. John received his Associates Degree in auto body repair from Wayne County Community College and he worked at Great Lakes Steel for over 30 years. John married Mary Kay Yonge on June 6, 1987 in River Rouge, MI. John retired up north where he loved living in the woods at peace with the wildlife and surrounded by the love of his life, Mary, his daughter and his grandkids. Some of John's hobbies included astronomy, photography, drawing, painting, aviation, computers and was a huge sci-fi fan. John was a great man with a huge heart and shared his love with everyone around him and also enjoyed helping others. John is survived by his wife Mary Kay, daughter Crystal (Dennis II) Vercruysse, grandson Dennis Vercruysse III, granddaughter Grace Vercruysse, 12 nieces, 9 nephews, 18 great nieces, 3 great nephews and 3 cousins; also his mother in law Joann Yonge, and sister in law Roma (Yonge) Athan and Alisa (Yonge) Maitland. John is preceded in death by his parents Leonard Albert Hainbecher, Lillian Elizabeth Hiller and step-father Howard Hiller, sister Marilyn Hainbecher, brother Gregory Thomas Hainbecker, brother Carl Hainbecher, sister Cathy Buchanan, sister Laurie Dughayli, father in law Richard Allen Yonge and sister in law Sandra (Yonge) Brewer Romack. Instead of fresh flowers family requests perennial flowers for a memorial garden that Mary planted at their home for John. To those attending visitation and/or services at the funeral home for a loved one, we adhere to CDC and State of Michigan DHHS guidelines. There are limitations on number of person(s) in the chapel that will be enforced. Thank you for understanding.
