John Kyte Goodyear

John Kyte Goodyear of Berlin Township, Michigan peacefully passed away on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at the age of 82 surrounded by family. Beloved husband of Martha for 60 years. Cherished father of Ann (Ronnie) Chunn, Jeff (Janna) Goodyear, Beth (Mark) Clum, Tim (Laura) Goodyear, and Chris (Heather) Goodyear. Dearest grandfather of Amy, Jessikah (David), Will, Molly (Ben), Matt (Shannon), Paul (Faye), Emily, Joseph (Krista), Ben, Andrew, Abigail (Dan), Sarah, Christy, Hannah, and Caleb. Loving great-grandfather of Halie, Ashton, Elijah, Norah, Capri, and Indie. Caring brother of Mike (Nancy) and Bill (David), and brother-in-law of Chuck (Esther) Ivan. Preceded in death by his parents William and Margaret Goodyear and his grandson Benjamin Allan Goodyear. He will be deeply missed by many loving family and friends.

Born and raised in Uhrichsville, Ohio, John earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Ceramic Engineering from the Ohio State University. John and Martha moved to Michigan in 1965 where they raised their family and he worked for Ford Motor Company for 34 years. He retired in 1999 as the Manager of Research, Development, and Engineering of the Glass Division. Since retiring, John and Martha spent winters in Sun Lakes, Arizona where he loved to golf and enjoy the warmth and sunshine. John’s greatest joy was his family and he loved holidays, vacations, and family time together. They have been members of First Presbyterian Church of Trenton since 1965 where John helped start the Boys Brigade program, taught high school and young adult Sunday school, and served as a Trustee and Elder.

Visitation for John will take place on Thursday, March 21 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Trenton Chapel of The Martenson Family of Funeral Homes located at 3200 West Road, Trenton, MI 48183. The funeral service will be held the following day, Friday, March 22 at First Presbyterian Church located at 2799 West Rd, Trenton, MI 48183. In State at 10:00am and service at 11:00am with lunch at the church to follow. Interment will take place at Michigan Memorial Park
