John G. Ehman

John Ehman, age 83 of Monroe, passed away September 19, 2018 at the ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital. Born on February 14, 1935 in Morning Sun, Iowa, John was the son of George and Helena (nee: Bunge) Ehman. John graduated from Monroe High School and proudly served his Country in the United States Navy; he obtained his degree in Business Administration from the Michigan State University. On September 29, 1962 he married Dorothy McBee at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Monroe and together they shared 55 years of marriage. John leaves to cherish his memory his wife Dorothy; his sons Mark of Monroe and James (Kerstin) of New York; his daughter Jennifer Ehman of Monroe; his grandchildren Lisa, Elsa, Lena, Emily, Carley and Brook and his sisters Martha Potter of Saline and Esther Ehman of Monroe. Sadly he was preceded in death by his son Timothy; his parents; two brothers David and Lewis and two sisters Hildegarde and Erna. Throughout his life John worked for the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, the Monroe Police Department and he retired from General Motors Fisher Body in Tecumseh after 23 years of service. John cherished his family and loved attending sporting events with his children and grandchildren; he loved watching sports especially Michigan State University and the Detroit Red Wings and he enjoyed traveling. John was a spiritual man who prayed every day, read the Bible with his grandchildren and was a long-time member of the Church of God. In accordance with John's wishes, cremation arrangements have been entrusted to the care of The Allore Chapel of The Martenson Family of Funeral Homes.
