Fitzpatrick John Francis "Jack"; age 85 of Newport passed away suddenly on Saturday, March 5, 2016 while watching his beloved Fighting Irish basketball team on television. Jack was born on July 3, 1930 to Joseph and Gertrude Fitzpatrick. He attended St. Mary grade school and graduated in 1949 from Monroe Catholic Central; after high school he served his country in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953 during the Korean War and on November 19, 1955 he married Lois Robillard at St. John Catholic Church in Garson, Ontario, Canada. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lois of Newport, the couple's children and their spouses; Michael and Robin of Allen Park, MI, Kevin and Cheryl of El Segundo, CA, Neil and Rian of Westerville, OH, Kelly and Kerry Beste of Armada, MI and Shawn and Kim of Monroe, MI. They were blessed with 7 grandchildren; Kyle and Megan Fitzpatrick, DeAnna Denewith, Danielle Beste, Kollin and Karter Fitzpatrick and Joe Fitzpatrick. They also have 3 great grandchildren; Makayla and Melanie Denewith and Declan Fitzpatrick. Also survived by his sister Mae H. Puckett of Monroe, MI, 20 nieces and nephews as well as his great nieces, great nephews, other loving family and friends. Jack retired from Ford Motor Company in 1995. During his retirement he enjoyed working in his yard and helping his children with projects at their homes; he also enjoyed time as a volunteer working funeral luncheons at St. Charles Catholic Church. Anyone who knew him was aware of his love of Notre Dame University and their football team. Jack always treasured the time spent coaching St. Charles football in the early 1970's. He was very proud of the young men he coached, and many of them were his friends the remainder of his life. Memorial Mass contributions may be made at St. Charles Catholic Church, Newport. Interment will be at St. Charles Cemetery.
