Born in Plymouth, Ohio, John was the son of John & Martha (Parsel) Croy. John honorably served his country with the United States Army from May 14, 1943 until February 12, 1946, achieving the rank of Sergeant. After return from the military he married the love of his life, Joan Davis, on September 9, 1950 at the First Presbyterian Church of Howell. John worked for over 37 years as a Civil Engineer with Townsend & Bottum Inc., retiring in 1987. An avid golfer and bowler, he also was a member of the Swan Boat Club. John leaves to cherish his memory, Joan, his wife of the past 64 years; a son John (Helen) Croy of Portland, Oregon; three grandchildren: Tricia Croy, Kimberly Thompson and Ian Croy as well as a great grandson Gabriel Thompson. Sadly he was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Robert Croy. In accordance with John's wishes, cremation is being held.
