Born in South Rockwood, John was the son of James & Bertha (Grahm) Quick. He married the love of his life, Patricia M. Lezotte February 16, 1943. A devoted husband, John was known for his hard work and dedication to his careers. Not only had he worked as a Conductor with DT&I Railroad-Grand Trunk for 38 years, retiring in 1981, but he also farmed in the area for over 35 years. He was a member of the United Transportation Union, Rockwood Area Historical Society and the First Congregation Church of Rockwood. He did much to maintain the Rockwood Historical Museum. John loved to read and his one and only hobby was hunting. He hunted everything from ducks and pheasants to moose, elk and caribou in Canada and the Western States. John loved to travel and when possible would travel by train. He enjoyed opportunities to ride on trains, especially older steam locomotives. He was still active with his local railroad group, the DT&I "Ol Timers". He was an animal lover and would often put food out throughout the winter for wild animals. Most pets in the house were strays that the Quick's adopted. John leaves to cherish his memory, Patricia, his wife of 72 years; a niece Melissa Hopkins of Corpus Christi, Texas; a nephew Matthew Hopkins of Plano, Texas; as well as many loving cousins. Sadly he was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Joyce Hopkins. In accordance with John's wishes, cremation will take place. Inurnment will be in Michigan Memorial Park Cemetery. Those wishing to make a memorial contribution in John's honor are asked to consider the First Congregation Church of Rockwood, 22600 Mather St., Rockwood, MI 48173 or the Rockwood Area Historical Society, P.O.
