John David Sharkey

John David Sharkey, of Monroe, passed away December 20, 2023. Beloved son of John Jacob Sharkey and the late Ruth Sharkey. Cherished brother of Christine Thomas, Barbara (Bill Stephens) Sharkey, Jackie (Richard) Connelly, Tim (Charmaine) Sharkey, the late Paul Sharkey, and the late Tom Sharkey. Also survived by his nieces, nephews, and other loving family and friends.

John spent a majority of his time volunteering for the Sleep in Heavenly Peace organization, where he would build wooden beds for foster children. He loved every minute of working for the University of Michigan, Athletic Department, since he would get to watch the games as well. He was a proud member of the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians, where he was able to connect with a lot of his lifelong friends, and participate in the events.

Visitation will take place Tuesday, December 26, 2023 from 1:00 pm until 5:00 pm at The Martenson Family of Funeral Homes, Trenton Chapel. A funeral service will begin at 5:00 pm. Burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery, Frederic Township in the spring.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory of John to Karmanos Cancer Institute.
