John C. "Od" O'Donnell

John C. “O'D” O’Donnell, age 77 of Southgate, passed away July 27th, 2024.

Born September 16th, 1946, in Ypsilanti, John was the son of William and Rose (Kelly) O’Donnell. A graduate of Our Lady of Lourdes as the Valedictorian, he continued his education at the University of Detroit, earning a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. Afterwards, John proudly served our country in Vietnam with the United States Army. He spent the majority of his working career with Marathon Oil, in his father's footsteps, retiring as the Assistant Controller. He was a faithful, devout member of St. Pius X Catholic Church and the Lincoln Park Knights of Columbus. He was active with the St. Suzanne’s Softball Team, and acted as a coach for the Barney McCosky Baseball League. John was an avid bowler, having shot 6 perfect 300 games throughout his life. He was passionate about sports, his family, and his religion.

John leaves the following loved ones to cherish his memory: Colleen, his wife of the past 37 years; 2 children: Joshua LaCroix and Timothy (Stephanie) O’Donnell; 5 grandchildren: Joslyn, Rachelle, Eleanor, Caitlyn, and Amelia, and three siblings: Rose Cross, William (Diane) O’Donnell and Mercedes Hinson.

In lieu of floral arrangements, the family asks to consider sending donations to The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration or to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
