Joey Robinson, age 31, born and raised in Grosse Ile, MI, and a resident of Plymouth, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, January 10, 2024. Joey was born October 19, 1992, to his loving parents, Susan and John Robinson. He was the youngest of his siblings, Jonathan and Jenny (and future brother-in-law, Morgan Frakes). And the love of his life, Kristina Camaj. And cousins Luke, Gina, Maria, Jake, Alexis, and Sara Tomlinson. Along with Aunts and Uncles: Mike Robinson, Richard and Vivian Tomlinson, Mark and Chris Tomlinson, and Craig Tomlinson. And dog Hobie. And Joey’s close ‘framily’ of Grosse Ile and Opal Lake. And his work family at Compeau Brothers Excavating. And friends and family that Joey’s effervescent attitude touched throughout his young life.
Joey grew up on Grosse Ile, where he was known and loved throughout. After graduating from Grosse Ile High School, Joey went to Central Michigan University and was a proud Chippewa. Joey was a good student and extremely gifted athletically. He could play just about any sport, but hockey and soccer are the two he took seriously, excelling on his high school soccer team. Joey was extremely talented in many ways. He could play the piano, guitar, ukulele, and probably any other instrument if he had a desire to. Joey could ride a unicycle and walk a tightrope and more recently took his one-wheel on adventures. Joey spent his winters playing pond hockey and snowboarding. His summers, he spent at his favorite place, Opal Lake, swimming, boating, sailing, tubing, and having campfires with his family. His favorite was to zoom around the lake in the Boston Whaler with Hobie in the front.
Joey was close with his family and his cousins were a big part of his life. His girlfriend Kristina was the world to him. Joey's family and friends will deeply feel the absence of his adventurous spirit and infectious positive attitude. Let his light shine; May his memory be a source of comfort and strength during this difficult time.
If you plan on attending the visitation and/or service for Joey, the family is asking that you wear colorful and cheerful clothing.
Dinner to follow after the service to be announced on Saturday.
