Joel G. Williams

Williams, Joel G., age 70, died peacefully at his home on June 15, 2018. Beloved husband of Sonta. Loving father of Mary (Richard) Falkenburg and Joel Williams Jr. Also survived by his grandchildren Aaron, Scott, Kaylee and Aidan; his sisters Margaret (Roger) Wenzel and Claudia (the late Wayne) Shepherd; his brothers John (Jerlyn) Williams and Paul (Vickie) Williams. Preceded in death by is parents Joel and Betty Williams; his sisters, Emma, Ruth and Iva; his brother Ace. Joel was born in Monroe and married Sonta on April 16, 1971. He proudly served his country in the U.S Army, serving 2 1/2 years in Vietnam where he was awarded a silver star and a purple heart. He was honorably discharged as Sgt. Joel grew up in Carleton and spent the summers in Black River Michigan with his grandparents, received a bachelors degree from Wayne State University; was a proud member of the U.A.W. working for Chrysler in Sterling Heights; loved hunting and was a friend of Bill Wilson. A funeral reception will take place after burial at the VFW Post #1138 located at 400 Jones Ave.,Monroe, MI 48161; catered by Tirami-Su Italian Restaurant, owned and operated by Megan and Francesco Grippi.
