Joaquina "Kena" Parsons

It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joaquina (Kena) Marizela Parsons, beloved wife, mother, nana, sister, and friend, who left us on December 15th 2024 at the age of 67. She was a constant source of love, support, and strength to all who knew her, and her memory will forever be cherished by her family, friends, and everyone whose life she touched.

Kena was born on April 24, 1957 in Detroit, Michigan. She lived a life full of love, kindness, and dedication. As a devoted mother, she nurtured and guided her children with an unwavering sense of care and compassion. Her love for her family was boundless, and she found her greatest joy in the happiness and success of those she loved.

She was known for her kindness, sense of humor, medical knowledge, loyalty, and pride in her family. She dedicated much of her life to helping others medically. Whether through her work in the nursing field to her role as a caregiver for the entire family, or simply through her daily actions, she showed what it meant to live a life of service and grace.


Kena’s love for singing and dancing brought out a radiant joy that illuminated her life and those around her.

In addition to her family, Kena leaves behind many friends, colleagues, and all those who were fortunate to know her.


She is survived by her loving husband, William Parsons, Children Angela Harris married to Arnall Harris and their child Dalia Harris, Jason D. Parsons and his fiancé Mildred Reyes and Jason’s daughter’s Zuri and Noelle Parsons. Her stepdaughter Wendy Parsons Miller and her daughters Sabrina Parsons & Ashley Gamez and stepdaughter Diane Castro along with her sons Julian Parsons, Marcel Parsons, William Castro and Jose Castro. Her loving sisters Lidia, Lucy, Sylvia, Myrna, Martha, and Eva the Reyes sisters and while last, definitely not least, the family dog, Roger.


Visitation for Kena will take place on Saturday, December 21, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Allen Park Chapel of The Martenson Family of Funeral Homes located at 10915 Allen Road, 48101. There will be a rosary held that same afternoon at the funeral home at 4:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service beginning at 5:00 p.m. and ending with a mariachi band at 5:30 p.m.
