Joanne R. Maple
June 12, 1940 – November 9, 2024
Trenton, Michigan
Joanne R. Maple, lovingly known to many as “Tootie,” passed away on November 9, 2024, in Trenton, Michigan, at the age of 84. She was born on June 12, 1940, in Louisville, Ohio to the late Jack and Twila Wichern. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Maple, and her dear sisters, Barbara Carioti and Jacquelyn Wichern.
Joanne was a woman of great strength, with a feisty spirit and a heart full of love. Her quick wit and sharp sense of humor brought joy to all who knew her. She cherished many special moments throughout her life, including being crowned Homecoming Queen—a memory she held dear. But her greatest pride and accomplishment was raising her children with boundless love, care, and dedication, building a family she was incredibly proud of.
Joanne leaves behind her three children, Christopher Maple (Karen Jarrett), Jennifer Joecken (Bill), and Melanie (Daniel) Buchan; her grandchildren, Meghan (Christopher) Bogda, Sarah (James) Baber, Daniel, Nathan, and Reece Buchan, and Alec Farone; and her great-grandchildren, Eli Bogda, Henry, Katelyn, and Anna Baber. She also leaves her loyal companions, her dog Tootsie, and Doug Palmer who stood by her side with love and devotion for the past six years.
Joanne had a passion for life—whether playing a competitive game of euchre, enjoying a quiet moment of solitaire, dining out with family, or carefully decorating her home. Her warm spirit and deep love for her family will always be remembered, and her kindness, laughter, and strength will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
A memorial service to celebrate Joanne’s life will be held at Martensen Funeral Home in Trenton, Michigan on November 17th, 2024 from 3pm to 5pm. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in Joanne’s memory to the Michigan Humane Society.
