Joann 'Mimi' Souva

JoAnn M. Souva, 82 of West Branch, formerly of Flat Rock, Michigan, passed away peacefully Tuesday, November 29, 2016. Born June 22, 1934 in South Rockwood, Michigan, JoAnn was the daughter of Edward and Henrietta (Laura) Valiquette. On August 7, 1954 JoAnn married her beloved husband Robert G. Souva. Sadly, Robert preceded her in death on December 2, 2004. Surviving are JoAnn's children Stephen (Sally) Souva, of Monroe; Scott (Cindy) Souva, of Flat Rock; Stanley (PoHwa) Souva, of Rose City, MI; Shawn Souva, of Flat Rock; Sharon (Jack) Warren, of Flat Rock and Sherla (John) Hill, of Flat Rock; 12 granchildren Bridgette (Dominic), Ethan, Christine (Jeff), Eric (Jori), Sarah (Aron), Edson, Emily, Jacob (Elizabeth), Jeremy (Melissa), Angie, Lauren (Mike) and Leah; 14 great grandchildren Zachery, Julianna, Kendall, Alexis, Austin, Hunter, Blake, Kamryn, Jack, Scarlett, Lyra, Ava, Kaia and Ella; a sister Rhea Twydell, of South Rockwood; and her devoted pet Cooper. JoAnn was a wonderful homemaker, devout Catholic and enjoyed sewing and quilting. She volunteered at the Red Cross and also at Holy Family Church in Rose City, MI where she was a greeter and did Christian services. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family. JoAnn was preceded in death by her husand Robert Souva, parents Edward and Henrietta Valiquette, brothers Henry, Myron and Joseph Valiquette and sisters Oveda McIsaac and Ledell Elliott. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 2-9 PM, with a Rosary at 7:30 PM at The Ford Chapel-Martenson Family of Funeral Homes, 23620 N. Huron River Dr., Rockwood, MI 48173. JoAnn will lie In state on Friday from 10 AM until the Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM at St. Mary of the Annunciation Catholic Church, Rockwood. Father Jim Rafferty will officiate. Interment will take place on Saturday at 3:00 PM at Damon Cemetery in West Branch, MI. Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice.
