Joan Bettinger

Joan Bettinger, age 83 of Rockwood, passed away Thursday, June 1, 2023.

Born January 18, 1940 in Rockwood, Joan was the daughter of Nelson and Mabel (Shanaver) Gomoll. She married James Brown on June 18, 1960. Joan then married Jimmy Bettinger August 15, 1986. Sadly, he preceded her in death May 13, 2012. A dedicated homemaker, Joan was a member of the Rockwood First Congregational Church, the Red Hat Society and Women of the Moose. She also enjoyed playing Bunko, but her most treasured times were those spent with her family.

Joan leaves to cherish her memory her children: Kim (John) Bodner, Cherie (Brad) Basarich, Stacey Brown and Danny Brown; six grandchildren: Michael (Taylor) Slimp, Joshua (Brittany) Phillips, Robbie (Mikayla) Bodner, J.J. Phillips, Curtis (Rachele Grabetz) Bodner and Janel Phillips; as well as 6 great grandchildren (with one on the way) and two sisters-in-law: Joanne Gomoll and Connie Gomoll. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by five siblings: Peggy Gerhardi, Niles Gomoll, Ralph Gomoll, Nelson Gomoll and Kay Gahagen.

Memorial contributions in Joan’s honor may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation or the Rockwood First Congregational Church.
