Jill Ann Yakima passed away on November 6, 2026. Born on December 15, 1956, in Detroit, Michigan, she was the daughter of William and Janet (Johnson) Guilder. She lived a life marked by warmth, connection, and devotion to the people and communities she loved.
A graduate of Allen Park High School, Jill married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Walter Yakima, on July 21, 1979. She built a long and steady career as an Electric Choice Liaison for Detroit Edison, where she worked for more than 30 years before retiring in 2018. Her dedication and consistency reflected the same qualities that so many appreciated in her throughout her life.
Jill was very outgoing and social, and she found her greatest joy in spending time with her friends and family. She had a way of making others feel welcome, and her presence brought comfort, conversation, and laughter to those around her. She was also a member of Downriver United Methodist Church, a meaningful part of her life and faith.
She leaves behind a loving family who will carry her memory forward with deep affection: her sons, Michael (Eva)Yakima and Scott (Sarah Andersen) Yakima; her daughter, Kaitlin (Derek) Woloszyk; her granddaughters, Stella Yakima, Charlotte Yakima, and Sloan Martin; her grandsons, Jack Woloszyk, Lennox Andersen-Yakima, Owen Woloszyk, and Cole Woloszyk; and her siblings, Susan (Paul)Guerriero, William (Brenda) Guilder, Julie (Norman) Chavka, and Carol (Evan) Varvatos. In each of their lives, Jill leaves a lasting imprint of love, strength, and togetherness, and she will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Sadly she was preceded in death by her parents.
Jill Ann Yakima will be remembered for her friendly spirit, her faithful presence, and the love she shared so freely with family and friends. Her memory will remain a blessing to all whose lives were brightened by knowing her.
