Jerome “Jerry” A. Catka age 88 of Woodhaven, Michigan passed away surrounded by the love of his family on Friday, October 15, 2021. Beloved husband of 67 years to Anna Catka. Loving father of Cindy (Ted) Marchuck, Linda (Ron) Kirsch, Nancy (Keith) Vyletel, Marie Catka, and Marilyn (Jeff) Imber. Cherished papa of Ann-Marie (Phil) Gerrity, David (Heather) Marchuck, Lori (Mike) Axtell, Nicole (Jon) DePhillips, Keith Kirsch, Mark Vyletel (Grace-fiancé), Gina Vyletel, Sara Vyletel, Jon (Jillian) Imber, and Lindsey Imber. Caring great-papa of Colin, Brynn, Joanna, Gabe, Sam, Sloane, Eddie, Ruby, Everett, Brooke, Mia, Joslyn, and Jackson. Dear friend of Scott Frentz and dog dad to Lola and many pups in heaven alongside him. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents Martin and Frances Catka, his siblings; Stan, Frank, Helen, Irene, Clara, and Tony, and his grandson David (Julie) Imber. He will be deeply missed by many loving family and friends. Jerry was a hard-working man from the time he was a very young boy; he worked at Ford Motor Company for 33 years, A&P as a butcher for 25 years and as a real estate agent for 20+ years. He loved all the work he did and poured his heart and soul into it. He loved to be surrounded by people; there was not a soul he met that wasn’t a friend. He worked hard to provide a good life for his wife and his daughters whom he taught so many life-long lessons (always tell the truth, honesty is the best policy, save your money, be kind and generous, don’t judge, people are people (age, religion, ethnic background never mattered) and to love animals. In Jerry’s younger years, he enjoyed dancing the polka with his beautiful wife; he spun her around the dance floor as if they were floating on air. He also had a love for playing cards with many of his long-time friends; Jerry lived for these gatherings and enjoyed sharing a meal and many laughs. Funeral arrangements for Jerry are entrusted to the Trenton Chapel of the Martenson Family of Funeral Homes located at 3200 West Road. A private service for Jerry’s immediate family will be held at Our Lady of the Woods Catholic Church. A celebration of life will be held on a future date for Jerry’s family and friends.
