Jean Richardson

Jean Richardson of Trenton, Michigan passed away on Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at the age of 97. Beloved wife of the late James Richardson. Cherished mother of Margaret (the late Roger) Gaugler, Deborah (Douglas) Crist, and Karen (Lawrence) Gilbert. Loving grandmother of Christine (Herbert) Yoo, Abigail (Michael) Provenzano, Richard (Rachael) Crist, Joseph (Laura) Crist, Jean Brzys, Jesse (Emma) Gilbert, Jamie (Amy) Gilbert, and Jennifer Gilbert. Dearest great-grandmother of Juliet, Joel, Everett, Scarlet, Harrison, Abraham, Freya, Gideon, Oz, Owen, Monroe, Josette, J.J., Ava Jean, and Nora Jane. Jean was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Jerusha Garrett and her sister Patty Sue (Harlen) Brown.

Jean was devoted to her Lord and her family. She was a woman of many talents, creating wardrobes for herself and her daughters. Even designing hats, purses and shoes to compliment the outfits. Many enjoyed the delicious meals she laid on the dining table. Her banana pudding was always a hit at church potlucks. Music was a pleasure for Jean, be it playing the piano, the organ or singing with the family. Jean preserved family memories with her creative scrapbooking, lovingly recording family celebrations and vacations, and her snowbirding adventures with Pat in the RV.

She shared her love for the Lord Jesus Christ through her words and actions. For many years she taught children, young girls and women in Bible classes. Even when limited to being at home, Jean faithfully prayed for family, friends, neighbors, caregivers, strangers and any in the world who had needs for physical and spiritual healing. She delighted in reading scripture. A favorite was Psalm 118:24 “This is the day which the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” It’s with gladness and rejoicing that Jean is now with her Lord and Savior and praising Him with all her heart. Jean will be deeply missed by many loving family and friends.

Visitation for Jean will begin on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Trenton Chapel of the Martenson Family of Funeral Homes located at 3200 West Rd, 48183. The service will take place the following day, Thursday, December 22, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Jean’s entombment will be held at 3:00 p.m. at United Memorial Gardens in Plymouth, Michigan.
