Jean M. Pendell (Dyer), age 75 of Trenton, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 1st, 2023.
Jean was born on April 29th, 1948 in Saginaw, MI to the late Paul S. and Berniece M. Dyer (Tomlin). Loving wife of John. Dear mother of Paul, Glenn (Crystal Szczepanski), and Matthew (Debra Orr). Proud grandmother of Margaret A. and Charles H. Pendell. Jean is also survived by sister Patricia Williams, and brothers Richard (Mary Eustis) and Robert (Jennifer Henderson) and many other loving family members. She was also preceded in death by brother-in-law George Williams.
Jean graduated from Western Michigan University (Go Broncos!) and primarily taught elementary art in the Trenton Public School system for more than 25 years where she touched the lives of so many students. She was also a devoted and active member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Trenton for almost 50 years. She had a deep passion for geneology, publishing several books about our family's lineage. During her later years, besides closely following the Detroit Tigers and Detroit Red Wings, she was a dedicated volunteer for the Trenton Community Garden at the Trenton Cultural Center where she specifically focused on developing the Children's Garden. She also was recognized as "Trentonite of the Year" in 2016 for her dedicated work. Above all else, her biggest joy after retirement was traveling with John and spending time with her beloved grandchildren Margaret and Charles.
In lieu of flowers, it was her wish that donations be made to the March of Dimes (www.marchofdimes.org), Trenton MI Gardners, or St. Thomas Episcopal Church (www.stthomastrenton.org), where she spent so much of her free time and energy.
