Born in Claiborne County, Tennessee, J.C. was the son of Cillas and Rosie (Cosby) Giles. He faithfully served his country in the United States Army from April 13, 1953 until March 30, 1955. He then married the love of his life, Barbara Ann Massengill, on September 2, 1955. A dedicated husband and family man, J.C. worked as a Steel Pourer for Great Lakes Steel for over 42 ½ years, retiring in 1994. He was a faithful member of Lakeside Missionary Baptist Church and belonged to the Wheels of Time Auto Club and the United Steelworkers of America Local 1299. He also enjoyed restoring classic cars, motorcycles and hunting, but his most cherished times were those spent with his family. J.C. leaves to cherish his memory, Barbara, his wife of the past 62 years; his children: Randall (Brenda) Giles and Sherry (Mike) Ketterman; grandchildren: Eric (Leanne) Giles, Patrick (Allyson) Giles and Trevor Giles; four great grandchildren: Lilly Giles, Jackson Giles, Lola Giles and Eric Giles Jr.; as well as his siblings: John (Nancy) Giles, Bill (Cheri) Giles, Olene Ferguson, Marine (Don) Pockey and Glinda Gilliam. Sadly he was preceded in death by his parents; two grandchildren: Aaron Giles and Brandon Giles and a brother Perry Giles.
