Janet Marie Brown

Janet Marie (Aloisi) Brown, 63, of Gibraltar, Michigan passed away on December 11, 2019 unexpectedly but peacefully at her home. Janet was born on October 8, 1956 in Wyandotte, Michigan and grew up in Lincoln Park. Janet is survived by her two daughters, Angela (Kevin) Gilhuly and Stephanie (Chrishon Wilson) Kanalos, and her very cherished granddaughter Mia Kanalos. She is preceded in death by her father, John Aloisi. Janet has been a very dear mom, daughter, aunt, sister, and friend, but her proudest title is “Mia’s Nana.” Mia always referred to her as, "MY Nana"….and she was! Janet enjoyed a close relationship with her daughter’s Angie and Stephanie, and their families. She was happiest spending time with her tight-knit family and loved nothing more than having them all over to her beautiful condo for gatherings. One of her favorite Nana things to do was seeing Mia at her Cheer practices, attending Cheer competitions, and going shopping. She and Mia spent almost every weekend together. Janet’s family was her life and she loved to spend time with extended family, weather it was meeting in the middle at Frankenmuth, or going up north to see her great-nephew Elijah James who brought her loads of smiles and her best friend and sister-in-law Elaine Collins, who lovingly called her Juanita. Janet enjoyed cooking and baking for those she loved and made legendary lemon bars and a delectable Christmas cookie platter. Her kindness went our into the community where she was a lunch mom at the local elementary school. She had a beautiful, kind, caring soul that was evident to anyone who interacted with her. Her loss is deeply felt by those of us who counted her among their loved ones. Visitation for Janet will take place on Thursday, December 19, 2019 from 3:00pm-9:00pm with a 6:30pm vigil service at Martenson Funeral Home, 10915 Allen Road, Allen Park, MI. Final goodbyes will take place on Friday, December 20, 2019 at 12:00pm at the funeral home followed by a luncheon. Janet’s final resting place will be next to her father John, and adjacent to her first love Ronald Kanalos at Our Lady of Hope Cemetery, 18303 Allen Rd, Brownstown, MI.
