Janet L. Nation, age 77 of South Rockwood, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 13, 2022 in her home surrounded by family. Born January 21, 1945 in Detroit, Janet was the daughter of Rudolph and Margaret (Sparpanic) Stefanich. A graduate of Melvindale High School, she married the love of her life, Ronald Nation, on May 2, 1964. A dedicated homemaker, Janet also had worked as a School Aide for Taylor Public Schools and St. Charles School and was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. Janet enjoyed quilting, crafts, shopping and cruising in their vintage automobiles that Ron restored. Janet is survived by, Ronald, her husband of the past 58 years; children: Karen (Gary) Beaudrie and Jim (Stacie) Nation; five grandchildren: Jimmy (Lauren) Forrest, Andrea (Tyler) Tibai, Allison Nation, Abigail Nation and Joseph Nation; three great grandchildren: Ava Tibai, Maela Forrest and Grace Tibai; as well as a sister Darlene (Bob) Culbertson and an uncle Arnold “Manny” Antilla. Sadly she was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Philip Stefanich. A celebration of Janet’s life has been planned under the care of the Martenson Family of Funeral Homes-Ford Chapel; 23620 N. Huron River Dr., Rockwood. Friends may call Tuesday, August 16, 2022 from 2pm until 8pm with a rosary service at 7pm. Funeral mass will begin at 11am Wednesday at St. Charles Catholic Church, with no lie in state prior to mass. Burial to follow at St. Charles Cemetery. Memorial contributions in honor of Janet may be made to St. Charles Church, St. Charles School or ProMedica Monroe Hospice.
