Janet Anderson

Janet Anderson of Riverview, Michigan passed away on August 30, 2022 at the age of 74. Janet was born on June 9, 1948 in Youngstown, Ohio to the late Harold and Katherine Shotts. The Shotts family also included four sisters, Donna, Marge, Barb and Cindy, all living. Janet is survived by husband of 51 years, Eric; three children, Scott (Meghan) of Spokane, Washington, Laurie Johnson (Josh) of Gastonia, North Carolina, and Carrie Zielinski (Tim) of North Royalton, Ohio; and seven grandchildren, Connor and Owen Anderson, Caleb and Olivia Johnson, and Emma, Tyler and Peyton Zielinski.

Janet was raised in Canfield, Ohio and graduated from high school there. She attended Mount Union College and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree majoring in Math. She taught Junior High and High School Math for a couple years. Janet and her high school sweetheart, Eric, were married in 1970. The lived in Howland, Ohio where their three children were born. The family relocated to Riverview, Michigan in 1986 when Eric’s work took them there.

In addition to being a dedicated and loving mother, Janet was a math tutor for many years. She enjoyed helping students achieve passing grades and felt that she had failed the test if the student failed the test. Almost all of her students ended up with passing grades. Janet loved all of her family and was happiest whenever she could be with them. Outside of spending time with family, Janet enjoyed following sports, playing Bridge with Eric, participating in a bowling league for many years, and in more recent years, enjoyed water aerobics and yoga. Janet also loved the Lord. She and her husband were long time members of Faith United Methodist Church in Trenton, Michigan.
