Jane M. Pastor

Jane M. Pastor; of Allen Park; passed away March 20, 2020 at the age of 99. Devoted and beloved wife of the late John (a combat veteran of the Second World War). Dear mother of Ron (April), Dennis (JoAnn), Tony (Susan) and Laura (Tom) Visser. Sister of the late Virginia (the late Cass) Engel and the late Genevieve (the late Leonard) Brooks. Also survived by seven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Born in Detroit on May 30, 1920 to Catherine and Antoni Polak. She was proud of her Polish heritage; recognized by the Polish Falcons of America for her service and won several high school academic awards for her Polish language skills. Jane and John were early and active St. Frances Cabrini parishioners and shared great pride as Cabrini grew to become the largest Catholic Church-School parish in metropolitan Detroit. She placed her husband and family ahead of all other interests, to their great benefit. Over the course of her long happy life Jane enjoyed cooking, family vacations, spending time with her grandchildren, entertaining family by the back yard pool, and Polish music (festive and loud). During her husband’s lifetime they enjoyed leisurely cruises, trips to Las Vegas and Hawaii, frequent visits with family in Montreal, pinochle and bingo. Private interment will be at Our Lady of Hope Cemetery. A mass and memorial service will be scheduled at a later date at St. Frances Cabrini Church. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her name to Angela Hospice, 14100 Newburgh Road, Livonia, MI 48154.
