James William Gosla March 15, 1936 – April 15, 2018 James William Gosla age 82, of Monroe, went home to be with his Lord on April 15, 2018 at the University of Michigan Hospital surrounded by loving family after a brief and courageous battle with heart disease. Born March 15, 1936 in Monroe, Michigan, he was the son of the late Roy and Grace (Brancheau) Gosla. James graduated in 1954 from Catholic Central in Monroe, Michigan. He was a member of Saint Patrick's Catholic Church in Carleton, Michigan. He is survived by his loving wife Shirley Lambrix-Gosla. Siblings: Jerome Gosla of Hastings, Mi. and Mary Lou Pfund of Monroe, Mi. Children: Joseph Gosla(Pamela) of Jonesville, MI. and Gerard Gosla of Monroe Mi. Step children: Sheri Urbany(Richard) of Vassar, Mi. Jeff Nelson of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Joy Angove(Brian), William Gosla (Megan), Scott Lambrix(Jeanne), Edward Lambrix(Beth), Shelly Wenzel(Brian) all of Monroe, Mi. Dawn Higgins of Grand Rapids, Mi. 17 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. James worked over 30 years for Joseph Brothers/Fontana Foods/Heartland of Monroe retiring in 2001. Through those years of writing orders for candy and tobacco products to many Monroe County businesses he met numerous people who enjoyed his infectious smile and great conversation. Often referred to by his children and grandchildren as "The Candy Man." He was an avid bowler at Nortel Lanes and accomplished 2-300 games. He also enjoyed fishing Lake Erie waters. He enjoyed all sports and on many Sundays in fall spent time at Nortel Lanes with friends and family watching football. He was an avid University of Michigan fan. James cared for and supported many of his extended family throughout his life and will be remembered for his never-ending kindness and care giving. He is preceded in death by spouses: Eileen (Allor) and Jane (Sharkey). Brothers: Calvin Gosla, Charles Gosla and Leo Gosla. Sisters: Theresa Gosla and Shirley Gosla. Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass of the Resurrection at Saint Patrick's Catholic Church in Carleton, Michigan officiated by Father Giancarlo on April 28th at 10:00 a.m. with a luncheon to follow. Memorial donations are suggested to the American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Allore Chapel-Martenson Family of Funeral Homes.
