James Vanhauter

James Allen VanHauter, age of 78, passed away on Monday July 4, 2022. Born in Chicago, IL and raised in Allen Park, MI. Graduated from Allen Park High School as Class of ’63. He proudly served for his country in Vietnam War and was life member of VFW Post 4553 in Detroit, MI and held many positions within the organization. He also mentored many members that are now in leadership positions. Sadly, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Kristen VanHauter; sister, Lee White; brother, Jack VanHauter; brother, Gary VanHauter. Loving father to Jamie VanHauter. Loving brother to Nancy Schroeder, Ronald Stecko, Janice Kelley. Loving uncle and great uncle to many nieces and nephews. He was loved by many friends and family members. Loving grandfather to PopTart. Donations may be made to out to V.F.W. Michigan Charities – 924 N. Washington Ave., Lansing, MI 48906 in the name of James Allen VanHauter. Visitation will take place on July 9, 2022 at the Allen Park Chapel of the Martenson Family of Funeral Homes – 10915 Allen Rd. Allen Park, MI 48101 at 11 am to 4:00 pm. Honor Guard service will take place at 4:00 pm at the Allen Park Chapel of the Martenson Family of Funeral Homes – 10915 Allen Rd. Allen Park, MI 48101. There will be a celebration luncheon at V.F.W. Southgate - 16200 Dix Toledo Rd, Southgate, MI 48195.
