James "J.R." William Peter Richardson, 65, fought a valiant 20-month battle with bile duct cancer. His devotion to his family and friends, and their love, supported him through his fight. He died peacefully, surrounded by family on February 12, 2016. J.R. was born to Max and Donna Richardson, in Pontiac, Michigan on March 31, 1950. As a young man, J.R. loved nature and developed what became a life-long love of golf. He played football for, and graduated from, Waterford Kettering High School as a member of the National Honor Society. He attended General Motors Institute, and enjoyed a satisfying career as a CCM division manager, spending his favorite years at Aristeo Construction working on many projects with Ford Motor Company. He was blessed with a large and loving family. He married his best friend Mary on August 5, 1983 in Waterford, Mi. He and Mary nurtured their blended family with patience, discipline and humor. A dedicated husband and father, he encouraged his kids to explore the world without fear. He taught his kids to drive, to cook, and to have a true appreciation for being alive. His zest for living was a gift he also shared with his friends during many golf games, meals, and travel over the years. J.R. was kind and genuine with a hearty laugh and a contagious smile. Whether it was for co-workers, family, or friends, he always made time to answer a question or solve a problem, no matter how small, all with patience and grace. He is truly loved and dearly missed by his beloved family and friends. He is survived by the love of his life, Mary; his daughters Jennifer (Ron) Brewer, Julie Richardson, Teri (Harmon) Nine, Christina (Bill) Grooms, and his son, Rob Cassel. Also by his mother Donna Richardson, sister Carole (Bill) Gaddes; grandchildren Chelsie and Taylor Brewer, Isabella, Dominic, and Anthony Grooms, Allie and Addie Nine, great-grandson Aiden Villagomez, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his father Max, and nephews Tony and Michael Gaddes. A gathering will be held at Martenson Funeral Home in Trenton, Michigan on Thursday, February 18th from 3PM-8PM, with a Tribute at 7PM. A 10AM Memorial Mass will be held Friday, February 19 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Grosse Ile, Michigan. Mass will be officiated by Fr. John Mech
