James Carter

James Franklin Carter, age 85 of Riverview, passed away on October 31, 2024. He was the beloved husband to his wife, Janet, of 63 years.

Loving father to Michael (Pamela) Carter and Karen (Perry) Taylor. Dearest grandfather to Heather (Greg), Nicole, Michael Jr. (Samantha), Tiffany, Renee (Bryan), Katelyn (Lance), and Wesley; great-grandfather to Lola, Audrey, Cecelia, Gabriella, Cole, Jaxon, Finn, Anabelle, Leo, Cayden, Saydie, Zander, Ellie, L.J., and Raymond. Cherished brother to his late brother, Phil (Loretta) Carter and his brother, Rob (Peggy) Carter. He was also well loved by his nieces, nephews, and friends.

James proudly served in the Navy from 1958 – 1962. He enjoyed his time golfing, hunting, fishing, and being adventurous on up north trips. James was a dedicated, faithful member of the church, a prayer warrior and dedicated his time as a Navy Chaplain. James loved his second home in Florida and friends he shared time with. He will be deeply missed.

Visitation will take place on Friday, November 8, 2024 at the Trenton Chapel of the Martenson Family of Funeral Homes, 3200 West Rd. Trenton, MI 48183, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. There will be Military Honors service for James at 6:30 pm at the funeral home during the evening of visitation. There will be a service next day on Saturday, November 9, 2024 at First Presbyterian Church in Trenton, MI, 2799 West Rd, Trenton, MI 48183. Service will take place at 11:00 am.

In lieu of flowers, family asks memorial contributions may be made out to First Presbyterian Church in Trenton, MI.
