Jacqueline J. Smith

Jacqueline Joan Smith "Urbaniak", age 85 of Allen Park, passed away on January 29, 2024.

Beloved wife to her late husband, Marvin, of 58 years.

Loving mom to Karen (Cheryl) Smith, Debbie (Brian) Merriman, and Pam Smith (Gerry Beaupre). Loving grandma to Dale, Matt, Haley (Josh), Brandon, Nicholas and Alissa. Dearest Gigi to Natalie and the late Madilyn. Cherished sister to Yvonne, Cynthia (Steve), the late Diane (Ken) and the late Ron. She was also well loved by many other family members and friends.

Mom danced during her childhood years, starting at about 2 years old. She was very proud of these times; dancing ballet, toe ballet, tap and polkas. She danced for several companies like Council 54 Polish National Alliance Youth and Star of Tomorrow where she was showcased for "Trio-Polka", dancing with twin brothers. She was a brilliant dancer and could have danced in New York. She danced until she married the love of her life, Marv. They were married for 58 years, until his passing in 2015.

They wintered in Florida for many years and she was a sun-worshipper. She also loved knitting and crocheting, joining clubs until she couldn't do it any longer.

These last few years she has lived at St. Anne's Mead and was always making sure everyone was taken care of. When possible, she tried to make sure everyone had a birthday card. That made mom happy and the birthday person feel extra special. She became known as Ms. Hallmark. She had dances and kisses for many residents and staff that were very loved. They became like family. She will be missed by so many.

Visitation will take place on Sunday, February 4, 2024 at the Allen Park Chapel of the Martenson Family of Funeral Homes, 10915 Allen Rd., Allen Park, MI 48101 from 2:00 PM - 8:00 PM. Rosary service will begin at 6:00 PM. The Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, February 5, 2024 at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, 9000 Laurence Ave., Allen Park, MI 48101 at 10:00 AM. She will lie in state at 9:30 AM. There will be a procession to Our Lady of Hope Catholic Cemetery in Brownstown for entombment.

Memorial donations in Jacqueline's name may be made, in lieu of flowers, to Oakland Hospice (West Bloomfield, MI) or St. Anne's Mead Assisted Living.
