She lived her early life there and married Alfredo Mancini in July of 1948. Shortly after getting married they immigrated to Sandusky, Ohio with a dream of building a better life. Ultimately they settled in Lincoln Park and Southgate, Michigan where they raised four children. Sadly she was widowed in 1972 . The four children grew four wonderful families of their own. Irma's life centered only around her devout Roman Catholic faith and her family. Her prayers were dedicated to Our Lord, Blessed Mother and she considered Saint Anthony as her own personal Saint. Her sincere passion was creating wonderful meals especially during the Holidays. She loved for everyone to come together and enjoy the family home. We all have such heartfelt memories of these times. For most of her life she would stay up late for card games with the Grandchildren after the dishes were done. These games went well into the morning and she always stayed til the end. She belonged to the "Traveling Ladies Bestia Club" and spent many a night with her friends enjoying their company. One of her favorite outings was to go the Casino. It has been said, that she would slap the machine if she wasn't winning. She also went on extended vacations with her children and grandchildren to San Marino, Florida, Baltimore, Cincinnati, Topsail Island NC, Las Vegas, and other places. Irma was small in stature but a giant in heart, love, and courage, the matriarch that held our family together and that loved us unconditionally. She was an inspiration, a supporter, a peacemaker, and a comedian, and was loved dearly by all that had the good fortune to know her. She is survived by her children David (wife Kathy), Alfred (wife Michele), Nancy (husband Dan), Leo (wife Karen), ten Grandchildren Jennifer (Kevin) Mancini Meagher, Michael (Laurie) Mancini, Jeff Mancini, Nichole Somenauer, Lenaia Mancini, Daniel (Marie) Somenauer, Kristen Mancini, Kyle Somenauer, Allison (Francisco) Calvillo Mancini and Andrew Mancini as well as eight Great Grandchildren Aubrey, Sienna, Marissa, Dominic, Lily, Jude, Sofia and Luca. Irma, Mom, Nonni will be in our hearts and minds forever. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Saint Pius X Catholic Church, 14101 Superior Ave., Southgate, MI 48195.
