Iris M. Dye

Iris M. Dye, age 95 of Monroe, passed away June 22, 2022 at the Wellspring Lutheran Home. Born May 3, 1927, Iris was the daughter of Howard and Mary (McDevitt) Horton. She married the love of her life, George Dye, on July 14, 1944 at Percy Jones Hospital in Battle Creek. Iris worked as a Medical Transcriptionist at Mercy Memorial Hospital, retiring in 1988. An avid fan of the University of Michigan and Detroit Lions football. She was a member of the Bethany Eagles Nest Church. She enjoyed reading religious, historical and mystery genres. However her most treasured moments were those spent with her family, especially when attending the grandchildren’s activities. Iris leaves to cherish her memory her sons: George (Janice) Dye and James (Susan) Vassallo; 10 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and 13 great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 2 daughters: Mary C. Owens and Donna M. Dye; as well as a sister Peggy Charleston. The family would like to thank the staff of Elara Caring Hospice and Wellspring Lutheran Services for the exceptional care of Iris.
