Ilona C. Macek

Ilona C Macek, 82, passed away unexpectedly at the Henry Ford Hospital in Wyandotte, MI on November 12, 2023 from

complication with her tongue cancer. Ilona was born September 17, 1941 in Dearborn, MI to Joseph F. Frank and Ruby

(Cox) Frank.

Ilona married Rollin Edward Goheen, Jr. in 1961, and during this time she was blessed with her first son, Edward Scott

Goheen. They divorced, and in 1969 Ilona Married James (Jim) Macek who by then had four young children; Marie,

Marcia, Matthew and Margaret, making for five kids between them. They would add a sixth in 1972 when Jamie was

born.

Ilona earned a Bachelor of Arts in December of 1992 and also a Master of the Arts (Liberal Studies) in 2007. Ilona

worked at Ford Motor and Visteon for many years as an Executive Assistant and a Work Planner for climate control.

Ilona was a lifelong lover of books, a voracious reader, and a member of two book clubs. She also loved gardening and

became a Master Gardner. She was passionate about her church, the Grosse Ile Presbyterian. She also loved Music, the

Arts and Traveling, but most of all she loved following her grandchildren and great-grandchildren in all their activities

and accomplishments. Her family meant the world to her, and she was known to ask the members of the church to add

her family members to their prayer chains during difficult times.

Ilona was preceded in death by her husband, Jim, her son Scott, her sister, Cindy, and her Sister-in-law Cecilia.

Ilona is survived by her children, Marie (Paul) Larsen; Marcia (Jeff) Teifer; Matthew (Dana) Macek. Margaret (Steve)

Aryers, and Jamie Macek, along with Daughter-in-Law Mitzi Goheen, 11 Grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Memorial Service will be held, Saturday, September 14th , 2023 at 1 pm, at the Grosse Ile Presbyterian Church.
