Herbert Broughman

Herb was the kind of guy you just had to like, a guy who never put himself first. He was born in the city of Detroit, the oldest of seven siblings. He graduated from Detroit Southwestern High School before serving in the Army Air Corp during WWII, stationed in Alaska. To many he will always be Coach Broghman. He coached baseball and basketball for decades, beginning with Little League baseball in Lincoln Park, and continued for years after his own children were grown. Herb's sons--Ronald, Gary, Alan, Gregory, and Kent; two daughters--Jill Broughman and Janis Kane; 12 grandchidren and numerous great grandchildren. A member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Trenton, Herb was the kind of spiritual man whose faith you felt more than heard. He worked as a skilled tradesman in the auto industry and retired from GM.
