Henry "Tom" Bates

Henry Thomas Bates, age 92 of Ecorse, passed away on October 14, 2024 surrounded by loved ones. He was the beloved husband to his wife, Mary, of 62 years.

Loving dad to late Tom (Coleen), Alma (Kevin), Barbara (Robert), and Benjamin. Cherished grandpa to Stephen “sidekick”, Justin (Alanna) “sidekick”, Connor “buckaroo”, Spencer “little buddy”, and Stephanie (Justin). Devoted great-grandpa to Liam and Charlie. Loving son to his parents, Benjamin and Jennie Bates. Tom was the last surviving of his thirteen brothers and sisters. He was also well loved by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Tom proudly served for his country during Korean War.

Visitation will take place on Sunday, October 20, 2024 at the Allen Park Chapel of the Martenson Family of Funeral Homes, 10915 Allen Rd. Allen Park, MI 48101, from 12:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Funeral service will take place at 10:00 am on Monday, October 21, 2024 at the Martenson Funeral Home. There will be a procession to Michigan Memorial Park Cemetery where he will be laid to rest.
