Born in Britton, Michigan, Helen was the daughter of Carl and Effie (Willis) Henning. A 1937 graduate of Britton High School, she married the love of her life, William Heiden, on December 6, 1938 in Angola, Indiana. Sadly he preceded her in death December 21, 2008. A dedicated homemaker, Helen also had worked at Powell Hardware in Dundee and Ida Hardware in Ida. She was a Charter Member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Ida; and a member of Dundee Senior Citizens. Her hobbies included playing euchre, doing word search puzzles, baking, taking care of her flower garden and going to the casino. Helen leaves to cherish her memory her children: Carol (Gordon) Toburen of Manheim, Pennsylvania, Janice (Tom) Clark of Hendersonville, Tennessee, Jim (Judy) Heiden of Brantford, Ontario, Canada, Dick (Linda) Heiden of New Richmond, Ohio, Gene Heiden of Monroe and Cheryl Stevens of Monroe; as well as 21 grandchildren; 45 great grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren; a sister-in-law Ella Henning of Naples, Florida and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Helen was preceded in death by a daughter Dianne Houpt; sisters: Irene Powell and Vivian Swehla; brothers: Richard Henning, Russell Henning and Norman Henning; and sons-in-law: Harlan Houpt and Denny Stevens. Those wishing to make a memorial contribution in honor of Helen are asked to consider Prince of Peace Lutheran Church or Dundee Senior Citizens.
