Beloved husband of the late Margaret. Loving father of James (Amy) Helzer of Maybee and Jane (the late Tom) York of Griffin, Georgia. Dearest grandfather of Jon Helzer, Bethany Helzer (Shawn Serbin), Chris (Emily) York and Robbie York. Dear brother of Helen Eipperle and the late Truman Helzer. Preceded in death by his parents John and Nora (Billmire) Helzer. Harold was born May 25, 1920 in Maybee, Michigan and graduated from Dundee High School in 1937. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II , Pacific Theatre – Aircraft Carrier, C.V.E. Admiralty Islands. He was treasurer of the Maybee Public School Board and the Village of Maybee Assessor. He worked for General Motors as a pipefitter at the Toledo Power Train Plant, retiring in 1985. He also served on the Church Council at St. Paul Lutheran church and was a member of the V.F.W. The family would like to give special thanks to Dan Gramlich for his help and to Promedica Hospice for their care and support. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 86, Maybee, Michigan 48159.
