Grace L. Packer

Born in South Hall, England, Grace was the daughter of Arthur & Dorothy (Bacon) Lowe. As a young child, she immigrated to Saskatchewan, Canada with her family, and a few years later to the United States. Grace was a 1941 graduate of Michigan Normal College with her Bachelor of Education Degree. She then married the love of her life, Donald Packer on August 9, 1947. Sadly he preceded her in death October 21, 1996. A dedicated homemaker, Grace also spent many years as a teacher with the Monroe Public Schools, retiring in 1977. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Monroe as well as Kirkwood Presbyterian Church in Bradenton, Florida. She also was active with the White Pines Garden Club and belonged to the Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel and Monroe County Chapter of the Michigan Education Association. Grace leaves to cherish her memory her children: NancyJane (Thomas) Dover of LaSalle and Audra May (Alvin) Hodge of Monroe; six grandchildren: Brian (Lisa) Dover, Stacy (Christopher) Bovinet, Eric Dover, Emily Hodge, Rebecca Hodge and Evelyn Hodge; as well as two great grandchildren: Ella Dover and Hayden Bovinet. In addition to her parents and husband, Grace was preceded in death by a daughter Margaret Rose Packer; a brother John "Jack" Lowe and a sister Irene Hall. The family wishes to give a special thanks to Grace's dedicated care giver, Ashley Jennings.
