Giuseppe "Joe" Selva

Giuseppe “Joe” Selva, age 85 of Southgate, MI. Loving husband of Lisette Gatti Selva for 60 wonderful years. Proud father of Carla Selva, Dr. Riccardo Selva and Lea (Andrew) Selva-Boyher. Beloved brother of Ersilio (Victoria) Selva, and brother-in-law of Adelio (Maria) Bonanni and Dr. Steven (Dr. Marisa) Taylor. Loving uncle of Steven (Bobbie) Selva, Anita (Victor) Selva-Turf, Dr. Marc (Julie) Bonanni, Laura (David) Flak, Olivia (Alec) Kopitzke, Victoria (Peter) Crevier and Sophia (James) Barry. He also leaves behind numerous relatives and friends in Italy and The Republic of San Marino. Joe owned a mason contracting company with his wife Lisette – J & L Mason Construction. They built many beautiful homes throughout the Detroit-Metro area for notable athletes and people who appreciated his masonry artistry. He was active in the business from 1961 until his retirement. His devotion to his Roman Catholic faith was his primary passion in life followed by his love for his family. He was affectionately known as “The Chief.” In his leisure, he pursued his passion for auto racing, particularly Formula One, and his love of the Ferrari Team. He and Lisette were award-winning ballroom dancers who lit up the floor at weddings and celebrations. He enjoyed fixing everything with the wonder of a child. His manual skills helped him to earn the nickname “Our St. Joseph.” A visitation in honor of Joe will be held at the Allen Park Chapel Martenson Family of Funeral Homes on Friday November 26, 2021 from 3:00pm until 9:00pm with a Rosary service at 7:15pm. The following day November 27, 2021, a funeral mass will be held at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church at 9000 Laurence Ave. Allen Park, MI 48101 with an Instate of 9:30am and a mass at 10:00am. Entombment will be at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions in honor of Joe may be made directly to the family.
