Geraldine R. Czarnecki

Geraldine Czarnecki will always be remembered as a wonderful wife, homemaker, mother, and grandmother by those who had the great fortune of spending time with her. Married to her husband Robert for an incredible 66 years, Geraldine knew that the secret to marriage was teamwork. Geraldine and Robert were best friends who did everything together: they were a team through and through. If the house needed painting or the yard tending, they worked together to get it done. The same held true for their yearly vacations, which found them traveling to sites across the country, sometimes for Robert's veteran reunions, sometimes to amusement parks for their children, Bob, Laurie, and Mark, and sometimes just to destinations that sounded fun and interesting. Theirs was truly a blessed union. The word giving does not even begin to describe Geraldine. Her children remember her as a kind mother willing to do anything for them, from making that special meal to babysitting their children to arriving with that necessary item that made their life easier. Hard-working and always helpful, Geraldine was also a devoted churchgoer who frequently volunteered at St. Tim's, where she could always be counted on to lend a hand. A wonderful gardener, Geraldine was fond of distributing her beautiful and well-tended flowers to others. Geraldine's giving nature and absolute passion for taking care of children also made her a patient and caring grandmother of nine, and great grandmother of two. She was willing to drop what she was doing and make time for her grandchildren, and her arrival was always welcomed with joy by both her children and her grandkids. When Geraldine appeared, she was always greeted by exuberant smiles. Geraldine loved her grandkids, and was always there with a video for an excited grandchild, or a box of diapers for an exhausted and thankful parent. Geraldine was truly a wonderfully generous grandmother who brought warmth, love, and joy into every household she entered. While Geraldine spent many years as a stay-at-home mom devotedly raising her children, she went back to work first part-time, and then full-time, as a sales associate for Kmart. At the Kmart Garden Shop Geraldine put her passion for gardening to work tending the plants and helping fellow green thumbs to improve their own gardens. The Garden Shop was the perfect place for her, since Geraldine loved meeting people, and people loved meeting Geraldine. Always ready with a smile and helpful words of advice, Geraldine was a shining presence to both customers and coworkers alike. She will always be remembered for the joy she brought those she touched, the help she freely gave, and her thoughtfulness that made the lives of those around her richer. Geraldine was born on January 10, 1931 in Detroit, Michigan and died on May 7, 2018 at the age of 87; she was of Trenton. Beloved wife of 66 years to Bob.
