Dziedzic, Geraldine (Geri), age 88, June 10, 2017, of Riverview. Geri is survived by her husband Henry, son Mike (Cyndy), daughter Nancy (Dan), grandchildren Adam, Vivienne, and Alec, sister Dorothy Sokol, and many nieces and nephews. Born June 10, 1929, in Detroit, Geri was a popular and spirited girl who loved ice skating, dancing, and "bumming around," as she put it, with her many friends. She graduated from Chadsey High School in Detroit in 1948, not knowing that her future husband Henry was also a student there; they would not meet until years later, when a blind date brought them together. After high school Geri worked as a bank teller in the Penobscot Building, and she was proud to have been one of the first employees to use an early computer in her work. Later, she "retired" to be a full-time homemaker and mom first in Lincoln Park and then in Riverview. A great animal lover, she baked cupcakes on the family dogs' birthdays and was a lifelong supporter of the Michigan Humane Society. Geri also loved gardening, reading, bowling, and the Detroit Tigers. She and Henry traveled often, enjoying the sites everywhere from Seattle to New York to the Bahamas. Her favorite trip, she said, was a historical tour of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. But her greatest passion by far was for the many children whose lives she touched, including nieces and nephews and their children, her own grandchildren, and all the honorary grandchildren she adopted along the way. In her 60s, she took a babysitting job and continued actively caring for her own grandchildren into her 80s, once even breaking her arm playing baseball in the backyard. She was a beautiful woman with a big smile, a big laugh, and the biggest heart. She will be greatly missed. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
